1.You need to know How much energy are you consuming, the amount of charge your putting back into the battery pack and what is the peak amper being draw at everyone time.2.You also need to know how many cells you need, the best way is to do measure the amounts of energy (Watts) you are consuming,3.Watt Meter to test it all over the day is one of way, then you can know how much energy you are consuming and somewhat determine how many/type of cells you will need , as well as the ideal of what solar/turbine power source you will need to recharge your battery pack.

The short answer is “YES”, but its not advisable.

A BMS is used to ensure that cells within a battery bank is kept balanced or in other words the voltage of each cell is kept somewhat level.

A good BMS will also protect the longevity of the LiFePO4 cells against overcharging or over-discharging plus too much current being drawn.

All of lithium ion battery cells must use BMS, the BMS mainly function: over charge, over discharge, over current , over voltage, short circuit protection. Lithium battery will be easily over charged or over discharged, then whole battery cells will be swollen. This is danger.

LiFePo4 battery single cells is 3.2V, simply a battery box with individual LiFePO4 cells and a BMS inside to achieve the voltage of the total battery pack.

For example,  4pcs LiFePo4 battery cells + 1 pcs 12V BMS and a box can connected in series to achieve 12V(actually 12.8V)

 

A ready LiFePo4 battery pack just plug and play, no need to connect cells or the BMS unlike if you buy individual cells.

The negative is your dont know what is included for the sealed battery pack, if the cells are A grade or used --B grade or the quality of the BMS.

Another negative is that is one of cells is broken or with problem, then the whole battery pack will stop working and you will need to buy a new bank to  replace the whole unit.

If your battery pack is DIY with individual cells, if one of damaged, you just need to change the one unit, rather than a complete battery pack.
